Would you date a younger man? 10 years younger .

If you meet a guy that is 10 years younger than you, would you give him a chance ? Ok say you dont have much money, so he's definitely not after that. Plus he's a professional & making more money
than you? So what you do ?

Why? Well a friend is in this "fix" & she ask my opinion. Knowing me, I'll say "go for it". But My friend is not me, she's rather conventional. So I thought this might not suit her. I told her my concerns, & she agree.

She has been single for a long time since her divorce- no children. Having a companion would seem like a good idea. But there are things to consider. Still what's wrong with just dating right?  If the relationship goes a step further, then we talk again ....lol... That' s my advise to her.

Today would be her first date with him. I'm getting nervous :))

  1. Only 10 yrs younger ? If I'm 40 & someone 20 years younger would to ask me out, I'll do it in a heart's beat! What's wrong with that?
Only goes to prove, you still 'has got it' !
We are in the 21st century & I intend to live it up.........

    1. It went quite well:) Most of us just overthink I guess. Age is just a number after all.
By the way, they have gone for a few dates already :))

  4. Technically speaking it's ok. But reality sets in after a while. When you reach 50 & he's still looking good at 40. So before you embark on such a relationship, assess the guy's maturity.

Would he be able to go through thick & thin & 'aging' with you after all the initial passion has passed?

    1. That's reality. It takes someone special & wonderful to be able to do that.

  5. I hate social norms. Why must the girl be younger in the relationship? I want to be able to date who I want, without seeking the 'approval' of others!

    1. Ya you can date all you want, but the reality is cruel. When idiotic insensitive people start asking your guy "is that your mother?" & your guy will start loving you less.

My advice, try not to go there if you can. 2,3,4 yrs older is fine but if the difference is more than 10 yrs, forget about it. There are plenty of fishes in the ocean. Get a more mature one!

  6. It depends on how old is the guy at the time when you met him. Say you were 30 & he's 20. Then I suggest dont do it. As at 20, he's just a child & not ready to make sensible decisions. Plus at 30, you could be looking your best. Fast forward 15 years. He will be looking great at 35 but a woman at 45 is a different story. He'll start noticing your aging, people will give comments etc....

However if say your guy is 40 & you are 50 when you first meet each other. It's different because at 40, he's already mature & is at a better position to make such an impt decision. Your chances of success will be greater.

  7. Everything will be fine until the woman hits 50, or when his insensitive friends start making mean remarks- which ever comes first.

True is unless your 'younger' guy is seriously very sure of himself & smart & independent, he's going to listen to some of these remarks & feel bad. As time goes by, it'll get worse. So why risk it if you can. Have a fling by all means but don't go any further. My 2 cents .

  8. No one is saying it's easy, it's not ,but it happens. Look at France latest President Emmanuel Macron 39 & his wife of 10 years Brigitte Macron. She is 24 years older than him. I seriously have a great respect for the Mr Macron now!

  9. I would date a younger man for fun, but marriage is a different thing. Unless he looks much older.

  10. My brother-in-law is 8 years older than my sister. Yet he still behaves like a child & drives my sister crazy. So older don't mean you hit the jackpot.

But our society still frowns upon an older woman with a younger man. I say: to hell with that, we only live once. If you love him & he you, who cares if he's 10 or more years younger?
